Novi, MI
- SuperHouse Pictures is a 100% local film production community that will be
premiering their latest work at the Novi Town Center 8 movie theater on February 23, 2008 at 7:00PM.This event is for one night only. Everyone is invited to attend and support the
local film industry of the Motor
City. The highlight of the night will be the premier
of two short films, entitled "A Slow and Steady Drip" and "The Norm".
The first film, entitled "A
Slow and Steady Drip" is about a businessman who takes a business trip, leaving
his wife to deal with a leaky bathroom faucet. The leak serves as a metaphor
for the issues in their marriage. The other film, "The Norm" is an
alternate-reality comedy about a man who seeks to escape his support system,
only to discover that his true friends are the ones who know and like him for
who he truly is.
The Detroit area is the perfect place to make
films. The people are great and businesses
are supportive. Everything was done right here, screenwriting, shooting, post
production and now the premier.The
quality of film produced by SuperHouse Pictures is incredible for the budget.
The event will also feature other
short films included a re-release of SuperHouse's 2006 award-winning short
"Who's Jumping?" and musical performance by Elvis impersonator Jedd Nickerson.
Nickerson portrays Elvis in the featured short, "The Norm."
Nickerson often performs
Elvis impersonations live, but this is the first time he has played the King on
film. "I do Elvis all the time, so even though this was my first movie
role with SuperHouse, it was as comfortable as putting on my blue suede
shoes."
Livonia resident Shane Sevo,
producer of "A Slow and Steady Drip" said, "I'm excited for this premier
because not only is ‘A Steady Drip' our most ambitious film to date, but this
premier is our most ambitious film release as well. It shows that SuperHouse is
maturing."
The script for "A Slow and
Steady Drip" came out of a screenwriting incubation program called Project
LightStand. SuperHouse Pictures originally organized Project LightStand as a
means of generating scripts feasible to shoot in the Detroit area on an independent budget. While
many genres were considered, the key factor was that the story have meaning,
moral, or tell some life truth.
The other short debuting at
the premier, "The Norm" was originally produced as part of the National Film
Challenge. The National Film Challenge is a contest in which teams from around
the country must write, shoot, and edit an 8 minute film in just one weekend.
SuperHouse has entered the contest each year since 2004, winning Best in Genre
in 2004, 2005, and 2006. "The Norm" was SuperHouse's 2007 entry. Since late
October, when "The Norm" was originally submitted to the NFC, the Norm has been
re-edited with several additional scenes for this premier.
"The Norm" was directed by
Greg Zonca. The last three years Zonca has participated in SuperHouse projects.
He moved from lighting, to director of photography, and now to his directorial
debut with "The Norm." "I've enjoyed wearing many hats with SuperHouse. Each
project is a challenge but when the film is completed it is very rewarding to
see a project that says something. So
many films are made to make money, it's nice to be surrounded by people who do
it for fun.I love what ‘The Norm' says
about life," stated Zonca.
SuperHouse Pictures is a Livonia based film
